Upon your arrival at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, you will be greeted by your &Beyond Asia host and transferred to the JW Marriott Aerocity, conveniently located just a 15-minute drive away.
Delhi, the capital of India, is a dynamic and vibrant metropolis where history and modernity coexist. The city is home to a fascinating blend of ancient landmarks and contemporary architecture. Much of Delhi was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, who envisioned a grand central administrative area that reflected the grandeur of British imperial aspirations.
Once you’ve settled in, take time to explore the city and immerse yourself in its rich culture and heritage.
Today begins with an early start as you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Raipur. Upon arrival, your driver will warmly welcome you and transfer you to Singinawa Jungle Lodge, located near Kanha National Park (approximately a four-hour drive away). This will be your home for the next three nights.
Kanha National Park is renowned as a prime habitat for tigers and their prey. A jewel of tiger conservation, it was one of the first areas to be protected under Project Tiger and remains one of the largest conservation areas in India today. The park’s landscape features lush sal and bamboo forests, vast grassy meadows, and the Banjar River, which forms its southwestern boundary, providing a vital water source for its abundant wildlife.
After settling into the lodge and enjoying a delicious lunch, you’ll set out on an exhilarating afternoon safari drive.
Please note: Afternoon safaris are not permitted on Wednesdays. On these days, you may choose an alternative experience, such as a village tour, nature walk, or a night drive in the buffer zone, after consulting with the lodge manager. All experiences are subject to availability.
Explore the dense jungles of Kanha National Park on early morning and afternoon safari drives, accompanied by a specially trained naturalist. Your guide will provide fascinating insights into the jungle’s ecosystem, pointing out its unique features and inhabitants.
One of the delights of exploring Kanha is the diversity of habitats, each with distinct characteristics. Towering sal trees form long stretches of forest, interspersed with patches of bamboo and large expanses of mixed deciduous woodland. Riverine areas, with their crystal-clear streams, serve as ideal cooling spots for animals during the hotter months.
Kanha is particularly renowned for its vast open meadows, or maidans, many of which were once forest villages before their relocation. These meadows provide excellent grazing grounds for large herds of spotted deer and swamp deer, which in turn attract predators like packs of dhole (Asiatic wild dogs) and tigers. An excellent network of forest tracks and dirt roads connects these habitats, ensuring an immersive and rewarding safari experience.
Today you will head out on a full-day safari, secured with a special permit that grants unrestricted access to all areas of Kanha National Park. This unique experience allows you to explore the park without the usual route limitations.
Your full-day safari begins as soon as the park gates open in the morning and concludes with the sunset closing. While you can return to the lodge for lunch, you also have the option of carrying a packed meal. If you choose the latter, your guide can take you to a designated area just outside the park limits for a lunch break, after which you can continue your adventure.
Your guide will enhance the experience by pointing out and explaining fascinating details about the park’s flora and fauna, making the journey both educational and memorable.
Enjoy your final morning safari drive followed by a hearty breakfast at the lodge before embarking on a four-hour drive to Raipur Airport to catch your flight to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi, you’ll be greeted and transferred to The Oberoi Gurgaon, located in the city’s suburbs, approximately a 30-minute drive away.
Set on around 4 hectares (9 acres), The Oberoi Gurgaon is an urban sanctuary characterised by bespoke design and contemporary elegance. Its high ceilings, open spaces, and abundant natural light offer tranquil views of the hotel’s expansive azure reflection pool and lush vertical garden. Enjoy amenities such as an art gallery, a salon, and a luxury retail arcade, ensuring a truly indulgent stay.
Following an early breakfast, you will be driven to Suján Sher Bagh, a luxury safari camp located near Ranthambhore National Park, approximately a five-hour drive away.
Nestled between the rugged Aravalli and Vindhya hills, Ranthambhore National Park offers a stunning landscape of boulder-strewn highland plateaus, serene lakes, and winding rivers. The park is dotted with ancient forts and abandoned mosques, creating an enchanting atmosphere for both birdwatching and wildlife spotting. Ranthambhore is especially renowned as one of the original ‘Project Tiger’ reserves, offering some of the best opportunities in India to spot the majestic tiger.
At the heart of the park lies the ruins of the historic Ranthambhore Fort, dating back to the 10th–16th centuries. Perched dramatically atop a rocky outcrop, the fort commands breathtaking views of the lush forests below.
Arrive at the camp around lunchtime, where you’ll receive a warm welcome before settling into your luxurious accommodations, your home for the next three nights.
Over the next two days, enjoy early morning and afternoon safari drives in Ranthambhore National Park, accompanied by an experienced naturalist who will share fascinating insights into the park’s diverse flora and fauna.
Ranthambhore was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1955 and became one of the original Project Tiger reserves in 1973. It’s remarkable diversity of mammals underscores its importance as a premier conservation site. In addition to the iconic Bengal tiger, the park is home to other predators like the elusive leopard, the sloth bear, jackal, and hyena. Among the herbivores, the Nilgai, India’s largest antelope, and the majestic sambar deer stand out.
For bird enthusiasts, Ranthambhore is a paradise, with its woods and water bodies providing habitats for over 250 species of birds, making it a significant bird sanctuary in its own right. Among the most recognisable is the cheeky rufous treepie, famous for its bold antics atop safari vehicles. Waterbirds such as the painted stork and purple heron can often be seen in abundance along the park’s lakes and water bodies. Raptors like the crested serpent eagle and the fish eagle add to the park’s avian splendour, commanding the skies with their grace.
Today is your last full day. Begin with a final early morning safari drive, followed by a leisurely breakfast at the lodge. Afterward, you will start your five-hour drive back to Delhi and the JW Marriott Aerocity.
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and assisted with your check-in. This luxurious hotel will be your home for the final night of your journey.
It is time to bid India a fond farewell.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Delhi’s international airport in accordance with your flight schedule, for your journey onward or back home.
