Rishikesh has drawn travellers in search of stillness for generations, and Anand Kashi by the Ganges makes the most of its setting on the river’s edge, with the foothills of the Himalaya rising beyond. The property’s architecture takes its cue from traditional Garhwali design, built in natural materials and finished with what the hotel describes as an ancient Indian, cosmic-inspired sensibility throughout.
Its 24 individually restored rooms span a wide range of categories, along with a dedicated pet-friendly ‘Pawcations’ room for travellers bringing their dogs along. Two restaurants—Ana Rasa, serving global and local Garhwali dishes, and Amrit Tara, for cocktails and lighter bites—sit alongside 24-hour in-room dining.
Days can be as active or as still as guests choose: the Amrit Kashi Spa and a temperature-controlled infinity pool for rest, a fully equipped gymnasium for those who prefer to keep moving, and organic fruit and vegetable gardens supplying much of the kitchen’s produce. Each evening, a private ghat gives guests direct access to the river for the Ganga Aarti, the ceremony of lamps and chanting performed nightly along the Ganges’ banks.
Long known as the world’s yoga capital, Rishikesh finds a considered, comfortable base in Anand Kashi—whether that means unhurried mornings by the water or an evening watching the Aarti unfold from the property’s own ghat.
