MEET CLIVE
Clive was born and raised in Pietermaritzburg in South Africa’s picturesque Midlands. Growing up in such close proximity to some of the country’s most prized wilderness areas, Clive developed a lifelong love for the great outdoors and its varied wildlife and birdlife.
It wasn’t until after his schooling, however, that Clive spent some quality time in these protected wildlife areas and he was hooked instantly. Working at that stage in sales, Clive would spend most, if not all, of his days off in the Kruger National Park or Hluhluwe Game Reserve.
After dedicating eight years to working in sales, the lure of the wilderness became too strong and Clive eventually decided to follow his heart in 2016. He enrolled at &Beyond‘s Inkwazi Ranger Training School at &Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve and has been guiding on Phinda ever since.
Clive is currently the dedicated guide for Phinda Homestead, an exclusive-use villa situated in the north of the reserve. He also mentors the trainee guides on their journey to become qualified.
Clive is an avid outdoorsman and when he’s not guiding, he’s off exploring the rugged beauty of South Africa. From hiking, mountain biking and trail running, to birding and camping, he truly is happiest when surrounded by nature.
In 2022, Clive was appointed as one of Beyond’s specialist guides.
