On the southwest coast of Mahé, where the island rises into forested hills, Mango House Seychelles LXR Hotels & Resorts sits above the bay of Anse Aux Poules Bleues. Part of Hilton’s LXR Hotels & Resorts Collection, it is a private estate of rooms and suites gathered into four distinctive houses, a short 16.7 km (10.4 mi) drive from Seychelles International Airport.
Accommodation is spread across nine houses set into the hillside and along the shore: Bay Houses, Cliff House, Beach House and Ocean House. Rooms and suites range from king and twin deluxe rooms to ocean-view suites and a one-bedroom Ocean House opening to a private pool. The one-bedroom Bay House suite with its own plunge pool can also be privatised and transformed into a three-bedroom home with two rooms upstairs and a plunge-pool suite on the ground floor. At the top end, the two-bedroom Cliff House Panorama Suite makes the most of the estate’s elevated position above the bay.
Dining moves between four very different tables. Moutya celebrates authentic Creole cooking, a spice-led journey of flavours and scents set above the beach. Muse offers soulful Italian sharing plates in a space hung with works by renowned Italian photographer Gian Paolo Barbieri, who once owned the house itself. Kokoye Lounge, the estate’s main lounge, pairs expertly crafted cocktails with refined Japanese plates and sweeping views of the bay, while Soley, the poolside bar, follows the journey of the sun with refreshing drinks in a relaxed setting.
Away from the table, days unfold at your own pace. Swim in one of three infinity pools, take to the surf break off the bay, or head out from the non-motorised watersports hub. Anpe, the wellness spa, draws on the calm of its surroundings, while a Technogym-equipped gym is open around the clock. Beyond the estate, Mahé invites exploration, from the golden sweep of Anse Intendance Beach and the trails of the surrounding hills to the Takamaka Rum Distillery, the botanical gardens and the spice gardens that give this coast its scent.
