Phinda Private Game Reserve
FAVOURITE ANIMAL
Male lions & leopards
Growing up in a family passionate about the outdoors, Grant spent many holidays traversing the bush. It was on these family adventures that his love for nature was shaped and moulded, helping to further deepen his appreciation and understanding of the natural world and wildlife that surrounds us.
Grant went on to study at Stellenbosch University in the Western Cape graduating with a BComm Business Management degree. Despite using his varsity years to focus on his studies and rugby talent, Grant yearned for the bush, and knew that was where he truly belonged.
In 2018, Grant joined &Beyond’s Inkwazi Ranger Training School at &Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve, and over the last four years has been fortunate enough to be based at all of Phinda’s lodges, as well as Ngala Private Game Reserve and Sabi Sand Game Reserve.
His exposure to these vastly different areas has allowed Grant to gain an even greater understanding of the landscape and game unique to the various regions. Passionate about sharing his love for the bush with others, Grant has not only completed his FGASA Level 2 Grade 2 (potentially dangerous game) walking, but he also mentors and trains aspiring trainee rangers.
An adventurer at heart, Grant loves a good ol’ African bush safari as well as exploring the beautiful Indian Ocean coastlines. A budding photographer, Grant spends whatever free time he has capturing the magnificent fauna and flora patiently waiting for that once-in-a-lifetime shot.
