Born in Zimbabwe, raised in Botswana and schooled in South Africa, Brendon has always had a healthy exposure to the natural world and developed a keen interest for nature and wildlife at an early age.
Once Brendon finished boarding school in Durban, South Africa, he spent a few months abroad exploring the beauty of Thailand. He later returned to South Africa to study and completed his Bachelor of Technology in Nature Conservation in 2016.
Keen to gain first-hand experience working among different landscapes and in different fields of expertise, Brendon has not only worked as a guide, but also formed part of a habitat team, worked as an assistant manager / maintenance manager in Botswana’s Tuli Block, briefed as an intern at Tswalu Private Game Reserve, and did some volunteering. These various roles gave him an in-depth understanding of Southern Africa’s diversity and ecology.
In 2017, Brendon enrolled at &Beyond’s Inkwazi Ranger Training School at &Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve and has been based at Phinda ever since. He is passionate about sharing the extreme diversity of the reserve with his guests, as well as revealing the groundbreaking conservation work that makes it all happen.
Although Brendon refers to himself as a nature enthusiast, his greatest passion is wildlife photography, with a specific interest in bird photography. In fact, Brendon and his wife, Zandri, spend all of their off-time exploring the far reaches of Southern Africa in search of new and exciting species to observe and photograph.
