Ngala Private Game Reserve shares an unfenced boundary with the world-renowned Kruger National Park, South Africa’s largest wildlife sanctuary and one of the biggest game reserves in the world. The park is located in the northeast of South Africa, in the eastern parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces.
Getting to Ngala Private Game Reserve:
- Federal Air offer daily scheduled flights from Johannesburg and Nelspruit to Ngala Private Game Reserve
- Connect Ngala Private Game Reserve to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Phinda Private Game Reserve, and the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve
- There are daily Airlink flights from Cape Town to Hoedspruit Airport, which are then followed by a two-hour road transfer
- It’s a six-hour drive from Johannesburg, on very good roads, in a two-wheel-drive vehicle

Nestled between the dense riverine forest and the sandy bed of the Timbavati, Ngala Tented Camp is ideally positioned on a private concession within the highly acclaimed Kruger National Park.
Set within South Africa’s largest and most well-known game reserve in the world, Ngala Private Game Reserve not only offers one of the most incredible Big Five wildlife experiences, but also an intimate one due to our exclusive traversing rights on 14,700 hectares (36,324 acres) of wilderness land. Safaris are led by expert &Beyond-trained ranger and tracker teams, that ensure sensitive off-roading practices to allow close-up game sightings of elephant, buffalo, rhino, lion, leopard, African wild dog, and more.
Chic and contemporary, Ngala Tented Camp comprises just nine intimate and luxurious tented suites, making it a perfect exclusive-use option for a small family or group of friends. The tents are set on raised platforms and cleverly designed to blend into the riverside trees, minimising the impact on the environment. Each tent has an ensuite bathroom, swirling overhead fan, air conditioning, outdoor bathtubs and showers, snug electric blankets for winter and private expansive wooden decks.
The elegant guest areas overlook the seasonal Timbavati River and are the ideal tranquil location to enjoy a quiet book or a refreshing drink. Celebrating a refined balance between traditional and contemporary, camp interiors combine local Shangaan-inspired mid-century silhouettes with regional embroidered designs and textiles, all against the backdrop of its signature granite stone and canvas. Expansive al fresco decks with reticulated awnings provide ample choice for dining options as well as the perfect vantage point to spend some leisure time gazing out onto the shaded riverbed.
Much loved by both guests and thirsty wildlife visitors, the camp’s large rim-flow swimming pool, as well as the surrounding deck, also boasts magnificent riverbed views.
