Watch the antics of wild penguins in South Africa at Boulders Beach, one of the only places in the world where you can get up close and personal with these delightful water birds. A great place for the family to spend the day, Boulders Beach is fabulous for swimming, and the powdery white sand cove is perfectly sheltered from strong currents by massive boulders. Boulders remains the only place in the world where one can get up close to African penguins.
Kids can explore rock pools, climb on boulders, build sandcastles and the whole family can enjoy a picnic. A 40-minute drive from Cape Town, Boulders Beach forms part of the Table Mountain National Park Marine Protected Area ensuring the protection of the penguins. Boardwalks meander through the dunes and will allow you to view the penguins, and they also protect the nesting birds. There is a conservation fee.
