Walking with camels at Suyian Conservancy is a unique and immersive guided walking safari experience that takes you through the breathtaking landscapes of northern Kenya’s Laikipia region.
As you traverse rolling savannas, Vechellia-dotted plains, and rugged escarpments, the rhythmic footsteps of camels create a tranquil, meditative pace. These gentle giants, traditionally used by the local Samburu and Maasai communities, allow for an unhurried journey exploring Suyian’s unique wilderness. Along the way, you may encounter diverse wildlife, from the reticulated giraffe and Grevy’s zebra to rare antelope such as the gerenuk and Laikipia hartebeest, all against the backdrop of Mt Kenya’s distant silhouette.
You can choose to walk alongside the camels or meet the local herdsmen at the camel camp to observe the large, gentle creatures. At the camp, you may even assist with milking the camels. In this intimate moment, you’ll witness the profound connection between man and animal, forged over generations of nomadic tradition.
