There are two ways to begin your journey to this barefoot paradise.
By road and boat: From Zanzibar Airport or Stone Town, enjoy a scenic 90-minute drive to the island’s mainland departure point. A short 10–15-minute boat ride then takes you straight onto Mnemba’s white-sand beach. As there are no jetties, guests will wade through shallow water to board and disembark. Please note: this boat transfer is weather-dependent.
By helicopter and boat: For a more elevated arrival, choose a private helicopter flight from Zanzibar Airport to the Matemwe landing site. While helicopters aren’t permitted to fly directly over Mnemba Island, you’ll enjoy a striking aerial view from a distance. The 20-minute flight lands between Matemwe and Muyuni beach, followed by a 5 km (3 mi) drive and final boat transfer to the island. As there are no jetties, guests will wade through shallow water to board and disembark the boat. Please note: this boat transfer is weather-dependent.
