Fly from Lusaka to Mfuwe, where you’ll be met and transferred to Shawa Luangwa Camp, tucked along the banks of the Luangwa River. Settle into your luxury tent and enjoy your first evening in this remote, wildlife-rich corner of Zambia.
Venture out on an electric game drive, led by one of Zambia’s most legendary guides, Jacob Shawa. These near-silent vehicles allow for closer wildlife encounters with minimal disturbance. Expect elephants by the river, giraffes at dusk, and perhaps even a leopard emerging as the sun slips away.
Step out on foot into the birthplace of the walking safari — an experience that heightens every sense. Learn to read tracks, notice birdsong, and feel the pulse of the wild in a way that no vehicle safari can replicate. Later, return for a leisurely riverside lunch and a siesta in the shade.
Fly onward to the Lower Zambezi, arriving at Potato Bush Camp — a small, elegant camp nestled under mahogany trees on the riverbank. Here, the rhythm of the Zambezi sets the tone for your days. Watch elephants cross the channel, listen to fish eagles call, and settle into the soft luxury of camp life before heading out for your evening game drive.
Begin the day with a sunrise safari in search of lions, buffalo, and perhaps a shy leopard. After brunch, drift down the river on a boat safari — a peaceful way to witness the park’s prolific birdlife and riverbank drama. Return to camp in time for sundowners around the fire.
Set out on foot with a specialist guide or try your hand at tiger fishing. Canoe along a gentle channel, silently passing hippos and waterbuck, or simply relax in a hammock for two on your deck with a pair of binoculars and a cool drink in hand. The Lower Zambezi reveals its beauty slowly, but richly.
Fly to Livingstone and transfer to Tongabezi Lodge — a romantic retreat perched on the banks of the Zambezi. Your River Cottage offers views of the water and plenty of space to unwind. Spend the afternoon at leisure or take a short cruise to watch the sun dip behind the horizon.
Today is devoted to Victoria Falls — Mosi-oa-Tunya, ‘the smoke that thunders’. Visit the awe-inspiring falls and feel the spray rising from the gorge, then choose from an array of included activities: boat cruises, village visits, forest walks, or a picnic on a private island. As night falls, dine by lantern light at the river’s edge.
Enjoy a final breakfast with views over the Zambezi before your transfer to the airport. Depart with a head full of wild moments and a deeper sense of nature’s majesty.
