The journey ends with two nights at Correntoso Lake and River Hotel, a Small Luxury Hotel on the shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake in Villa La Angostura. Days here are shaped around the lake itself or walking through the enchanting Arrayanes Forest on the Quetrihué Peninsula. A sunset boat ride through the Última Esperanza arm of Nahuel Huapi makes for an unhurried close to the journey before a final transfer to Bariloche Airport.

A tour of Vira Vira’s on-site Swiss cheese factory is one of the more unexpected delights of the stay. Scenic helicopter flights over the active crater of the Villarrica Volcano are available seasonally at additional cost.

Cross into Argentina and check in to Spring Creek Lodge, a six-cabaña property set in the northern Patagonian Lake District near San Martín de los Andes. Hike to the open summit of Cerro Quilanlahue for panoramic views over Lake Lácar or push on to Cerro Falkner for a dramatic lookout over the region’s peaks and volcanoes. The trail to Laguna Verde climbs through ancient araucaria forest beneath the Lanín Volcano. For something more relaxed, kayaking, fishing, and rafting excursions await. Evenings at the lodge bring gourmet dinners in the clubhouse, and on several nights, a tango demonstration and live music from local musicians.

Fly fish the famed mouth of the Correntoso River—internationally regarded as one of Patagonia’s finest angling spots—or head out by boat to the hotspots of Lake Espejo. A walk through the magical Arrayanes Forest on the Quetrihué Peninsula is a highlight for those seeking something unhurried. End the final evening on a sunset boat ride through the Última Esperanza arm of Nahuel Huapi before a morning transfer to Bariloche Airport.
