Chase shifting light, capture wind-sculpted skies, and refine your eye alongside a photographer who calls Patagonia home.
15 – 22 April 2027
This small-group expedition is built for photographers who want to work in dynamic, high-contrast environments. Over eight days, you’ll move through three distinct landscapes – the granite and glacier systems of Torres del Paine, the volcanic forests of the Araucanía region, and the urban vantage points of Santiago.
Hosted by Patagonia-based photographer Timothy Dhalleine, the programme is shaped around real field conditions: early light, shifting weather and deliberate composition. Ten years in Torres del Paine have taught him that timing is everything. You’ll explore storytelling, composition and editing, before refining your images in a practical Adobe Lightroom masterclass at &Beyond Vira Vira Lodge. This is a working photographic journey – not a sightseeing itinerary with cameras in hand.
1 night Santiago | 3 nights Torres del Paine | 3 nights Lake District
Stay: The Singular Santiago
Highlights: Historic neighbourhood exploration, welcome dinner, creative briefing
Arrive in Chile’s capital, Santiago and settle into The Singular in the cultural heart of Lastarria. Framed by leafy streets, galleries and café-lined plazas, this historic neighbourhood offers an immediate sense of place.
After time to refresh, head out on an afternoon exploration and begin to tune your eye to Santiago’s interplay of light, line and landscape. As evening falls, gather for a welcome dinner and programme overview with Timothy Dhalleine. Your adventure has officially begun.
Stay: Patagonia Camp
Highlights: Grey Glacier viewpoints, lenga forest hikes, astrophotography session
Fly south to Puerto Natales and transfer into the dramatic landscapes of Torres del Paine. Over three nights, explore Lake Pehoé, the Serrano River and surrounding valleys in peak autumn colour.
Field sessions focus on composition, dynamic weather, wildlife movement and storytelling. One evening is dedicated to astrophotography, weather permitting. Optional hikes and boat navigations are adapted to ensure optimal photographic opportunity.
Stay: &Beyond Vira Vira Lodge
Highlights: Charter flight over the Andes, Mapuche cultural visit, Adobe Lightroom masterclass
Transfer north via Puerto Montt before a scenic charter flight into Pucón. Base yourself at andBeyond Vira Vira Lodge, set on a 22-hectare working estate beneath Villarrica Volcano.
Photograph ancient araucaria forests, volcanic terrain and reflective river scenes. Engage with Mapuche traditions and conclude the journey with a practical Adobe Lightroom editing masterclass, refining images captured throughout the week.
Stay: Departure day
Highlights: Final forest immersion experience, reflective close, scenic transfer to Temuco
Begin your final morning with one last forest immersion experience. Step quietly beneath the canopy, where filtered light falls through ancient trees. It’s a moment to slow down, to notice what you might have missed before, and to reflect on how your way of seeing has evolved over the course of the journey.
Return for breakfast and a gentle farewell, sharing favourite frames and final insights. Later, transfer to Temuco Airport for your return flight to Santiago.
Patagonia is both classroom and canvas for Timothy Dhalleine. Originally from France, he relocated to Chile in 2014 to immerse himself in one of the world’s last great wilderness regions. Today, he works as a nature photographer and filmmaker based in Torres del Paine.
His work reflects a deep sensitivity to atmosphere and emotion — favouring patience, observation and narrative over spectacle. Through mentorship and guided expeditions, he shares both technical mastery and a philosophy of slower, more intentional seeing.
Guests travelling with Timothy discover that his guidance extends beyond settings and technique. He teaches how to anticipate light, interpret landscape and craft images that resonate long after the journey ends.

Patagonia’s light is rarely static. You’ll learn to respond to fast-moving cloud systems, shifting wind across Lake Pehoé and sudden breaks of sun that redefine a frame in seconds.
Mid-April transforms lenga and ñirre forests into copper and crimson against ice and granite – a brief seasonal window that changes the entire tonal range of the landscape.
Timothy’s decade in Torres del Paine means decisions are made around conditions, not guesswork – when to move, when to wait and when to change approach.
Staying within prime terrain at Patagonia Camp allows early access and strategic placement – whether for glacier reflections, steppe wildlife movement or last light on the massif.
You’ll move from the exposed vastness of Torres del Paine to the volcanic forests and landscapes of the Araucanía – shifting from wide-angle drama to layered woodland detail.
