A handsome presence on the flooded plains
After chasing a number of vultures off of a zebra kill this male lion and his pride had made, he started walking off towards a prominent termite mound which would offer him some shade to escape the mid morning heat. In order to get to this termite mound, the male lion had to cross through a small flooded river channel. He crossed through this channel with the water reaching his belly and after crossing the channel he made his way to the termite mound. A young male lion of this pride also made his way over to the zebra carcass with the vultures waiting not far off. After the young male moved off into the shade of a nearby jackalberry tree, the vultures once again returned to the carcass to feed.
