Summer 2023
Okay chaps, it’s time to leave… all together now, on my cue…
We were thrilled to happen upon this pack of wild dogs lying out in the open in the Timbavati River just at sundown. They didn’t hang around for long and a few energetic members rallied the troop to head up the river bank and along the road to a nearby seasonal pan where each dog set about its own priority activity with gusto: some drank, some played, some pee’d. In the distance a pack member vocalised – an eerie hoo-hoo sound – and as single-mindedly yet team-spirited as the dogs had departed the river, they departed the pan and answered the call for the hunt. We tried to follow but they were gone all too rapidly.
