Six transparent pods are suspended from the face of the Andes, 2,900 m (9,514 ft) above the Sacred Valley of the Incas, and they have an immediate disorienting effect: you are indoors, and yet the valley stretches out below you in every direction. Named for the constellations of Inca astronomy—Southern Cross, Baby Llama, The Shepherd, The Fox, The Condor, Orion—each pod accommodates up to four guests and comes with electricity, running water, a flushing toilet and a private bathroom.
After dark, the signature Starlodge experience begins. Four Onsen-style wooden hot tubs, heated by firewood and suspended on the cliffside above the valley, are exclusively for guests; each has its own private shower, robe and towels. A four-course dinner built around local Andean produce, served at base camp under warm lighting, precedes the climb back up to the pod. Come morning, the Milky Way gives way to an Andean dawn, and breakfast waits at the foot of the mountain.
