Situated in the Patagonian wilderness of Torres del Paine National Park, EcoCamp Patagonia officially opened in 2001 as the region’s first fully-sustainable accommodation south of the Amazon as well as the world’s first geodesic hotel. Since then, EcoCamp has gained its award-winning global reputation for its eco-friendly policies and innovative use of green technology; a true trailblazer in responsible and remote tourism.
Popping sensibly out of the park’s hilltop foliage, awarding travellers with unbelievable Patagonia views, guests can choose between four dome types – Standard Dome, Superior Dome, Suite Dome, and Suite Dome Loft – all which offer natural comforts and are beautifully-appointed with locally-made furniture and a Patagonian-flair. Designed to create minimum environmental impact, leaving no trace behind, each dome is mindfully built, utilising heat and light, natural materials and renewable energy.
With a key focus on active living, EcoCamp specialses in guided treks and wildlife excursions, encouraging all who visit to embark on an enigmatic Patagonian adventure, which can include anything from mountaineering and horseback riding to wildlife observation and wine tours. The camp’s expert guides, majority born-and-bred Patagonians from the neighbouring towns of Puerto Natales and Punta Arenas, are fun-loving and environmentally-conscious, well-known for their extensive knowledge and deep connection to people and the planet.
What we love about EcoCamp Patagonia
- EcoCamp offers adventurers an excellent selection of experiences to discover the majestic landscape of Torres del Paine in Chilean Patagonia. The EcoCamp’s Wildlife Safari comprises a range of daily activities, from hiking to biking to boating, while the Patagonia Puma Tracking excursion invites explorers to track and observe Torres del Paine’s top predator, the Patagonia puma, in its natural habitat.
- All of EcoCamp’s meals are prepared on-site daily offering travellers first-hand experience of the decadently fresh and locally-sourced ingredients and produce on display. With fellow pioneers, enjoy a hearty breakfast in the camp’s central hub, the Community Dome, before heading out for the day, to only return at the end of it to a deliciously filling three-course meal celebrating traditional Chilean and Patagonian cuisine.
- Enjoy daily yoga classes in the camp’s revitalising Yoga Dome. Perched on the edge of the EcoCamp site overlooking the Patagonian pampas, this dome truly embodies all that the camp is encouraging yogis, from beginner to advanced, to stretch their mind, body and soul while taking in the natural surrounds.
