Trekking in Nepal is the ultimate way to take in the dramatic landscapes of the Himalayas. A set of 4 lodges, each boasting their own set of glorious views, lie within the Annapurna mountain range. Each lodge is a day’s walk from the other, and they are to be found at escalating heights. Gurung Lodge, Majgaon, at 1 408 m (4 620 ft) has 11 rooms, traditional-style buildings, and beautifully contoured gardens. Next is Basanta Lodge, Dhampus, at 1 499 m (4 920 ft), the smallest of the lodges with just eight rooms looking out onto the Phedi and Mardi Valleys. La Bee Lodge, Landruk, sits at 1 639 m (5 379 ft) and has 12 rooms. The views from here are simply breathtaking. The 18-roomed Himalaya Lodge, Ghandruk, lies at 1 981 m (6 500 ft). From this height, the mountains have an ethereal beauty. Rooms at all these lodges are simple, but warm and comfortable. Bathrooms are ensuite.
Hearty meals, and early morning tea and coffee are the order of the day. Each day will bring a fresh set of views into valleys, across onto hillside agricultural terraces, and up to the dizzy heights of snow dusted peaks. The villages in these regions have not changed in centuries, and time-honoured crafts like weaving bamboo umbrellas continue to this day. You will discover a whole new world of fauna and flora. Perhaps your journey will take you to the iconic Macchapuchre (Fishtail) Mountain or you might meander through rice fields or mountain forests. You may see ropes hanging off the rugged cliffs where honey hunters risk life and limb for this precious nectar. This is a journey of discovery, of adventure and timeless beauty.
