Immersed in enchanting natural surrounds, the Estate where the Nine Furlongs sits was built in the mid 1800’s and features two beautiful bungalows. The Kakarkot Forest Bungalow and the Saulkot Writers Bungalow are warm, spacious and inviting with richly decorated bedrooms, stylish bathrooms and lounge and dining areas complete with dark wood furniture and cosy fireplaces. Both bungalows offer spectacular views of the rolling Himalaya, dense forests and colourful gardens.

Enjoy an array of activities such as birding in the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, a forests of oak, rhododendron, cedar, cypress and other indigenous species attracting over 200 species of birds and wildlife of barking deer, fox, porcupine, flying squirrel, wild boars and if you are lucky, a leopard. Strap on your walking shoes for nature walks on forest trails and mountain paths around the Estate. Sample the local cuisine and gain insight into the traditions of the mountain people of Kumaon in the villages around the wildlife sanctuary. Visit ancient temples such as Nanda Devi Temple, Bineshwar Mahadev Temple, Golu Devta Temple and a shrine dedicated to Kasar Devi and go cave exploring to the limestone cave temples of Patal Bhuvaneshwar and Lakhudiya, known for its two prehistoric painted rock-shelters.
