The superb Ruckomechi Camp rests in a lush forest on the shores of the Zambezi River. Behind the camp is a wide floodplain teeming with game. Each chalet features an ensuite bathroom. Situated on the river’s edge is a separate dining area and sitting room with a deck for guests to admire the sunset. The camp is renowned for its hearty, home-style cooking.
Ruckomechi offers exciting adventures that include morning and afternoon game drives, guided bush walks, afternoon canoe trips, excellent tiger fishing during the warm months and pontoon rides to islands along the river’s edge. As an added treat, lion and leopard sightings at the camp are very likely. After an exciting day of exploration, guests can savour a blissful soak in the unique Ruckomechi “bath with a view”.
What we love about Ruckomechi Camp
- You will be captivated by it’s rugged, scenic beauty — Ruckomechi Camp lies on the banks of the Zambezi, shaded by a large grove of acacia and mahogany trees, and with a superb view of the mountains of Africa’s Great Rift Valley across the river in Zambia.
- Spoil yourself with a fragrant soak in the outdoor ‘bath-with-a-view’, secluded in a scenic spot.
- Frequent elephant sightings — the camp vegetation is dominated by broad canopied albida trees, much loved by these majestic animals; they often join visitors in camp for a light meal!
