Gibbs Farm is situated on a picturesque coffee estate just outside the town of Karatu and midway between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater. The gracious and sprawling colonial homestead that is set amongst formal English-style gardens. While coffee is still grown, processed and roasted on the farm, a vast fruit and vegetable garden provides almost all of the fresh produce used in the wholesome, delicious meals enjoyed by guests.
Cosy and inviting cottages with private verandas and stone fireplaces scattered in the spacious grounds, while the guest areas, which include a charming living room, two dining rooms and a gift boutique, are situated in the lovingly refurbished old farmhouse. Cosy nooks and crannies invite guests to linger, while the spacious patio boasts sweeping views of the tranquil gardens.
What we love about Gibbs Farm
- Spoil yourself with one of the Maasai-inspired treatments in the spa, all of which use indigenous plants and shrubs – the Arabica coffee scrub is ideal for gentlemen guests!
- Stroll through the Ngorongoro Forest with an indigenous Maasai healer, who will point out the more than 20 medicinal plants used at the Osero Clinic, the farm’s healthcare centre.
- Indulge in afternoon tea in the garden, on your private veranda or in the main lodge – we recommend breaking with tradition just enough to enjoy a cup of the farm’s freshly ground Arabica coffee rather than tea!
