Kulala Desert Lodge lies within easy reach of the iconic dunes of Sossusvlei, set in the quiet openness of the private Kulala Wilderness Reserve. The lodge’s North African-inspired design feels warm and grounded, shaped by canvas, thatch, desert air and wide views.
The 23 kulalas are built on raised wooden platforms to catch the cooling breeze. Each has an en suite bathroom, private veranda and flat rooftop viewing deck, creating space for both comfort and a closer connection to the desert.
The main guest area includes a lounge, bar and dining space, with a plunge pool and wraparound veranda overlooking the waterhole in front of the lodge. Days begin early with drives to Sossusvlei, while nature walks, drives, hot air ballooning and camel rides offer different ways to experience the reserve.
