Serra Cafema is hidden within the remote Hartmann Valley, where the lush riverbank of the Kunene meets the dry, lunar beauty of the surrounding desert. The setting is one of striking contrast: moving water, shady trees, sand dunes and open mountain valleys.
The eight canvas chalets are intimate and peaceful, set along the riverbank with en suite bathrooms, ceiling fans and mosquito nets for comfort. The design keeps the experience simple and close to nature, with the sound of the river forming part of the stay.
The main guest areas include indoor and outdoor dining spaces, a sunken lounge, river bar, library and curio shop, with a swimming pool overlooking the Kunene. Days unfold on nature drives, guided quad bike excursions, river boating, walks through the mountains and valleys, and visits to a Himba settlement.
