Named after the famed explorer and artist Thomas Baines, Sanctuary Baines’ Camp is set in the picturesque surrounds of the Boro River. It has five elegant suites set on elevated platforms, offering breath-taking views of the river and a nearby lagoon. Each suite features a comfortable four-poster bed – which can be moved outdoors for a spectacular night under the stars – an ensuite bathroom, personal bar, ceiling fans and a private veranda.
The guest areas include a large veranda (which is ideal for outdoor dining and offers spectacular river views) as well as a swimming pool with two salas (open-air lounges) on either side – the perfect location to cool off on a sultry afternoon. The adventurous can explore the many winding waterways on a mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) or in specially adapted motorboats. Game drives in open 4×4 safari vehicles and walking safaris are fantastic opportunities to spot wildlife.
What we love about Sanctuary Baines’ Camp
- Wheel your mobile four-poster bed out onto your private balcony and sleep under a star-studded sky.
- Spend a delightful morning walking and interacting with a semi-habituated pair of rescued elephants.
- Sip your drink in the sala by the pool, which offers superb views of the Boro River.
- After a busy day on safari, enjoy an indulgent soak under the stars on your own private veranda in our opulent star bath.
