Access to the lodge:
Private lodge airstrip: A 1hr 15min fixed-wing or a 1hr 30min helicopter flight from Windhoek to our private airstrip, followed by a short 10min road transfer to the lodge.
Self-drive: It is advisable to use a 4×4 vehicle during the rainy season (from November to May).
The lodge is a 400 km (248 mi) drive from Windhoek and a 380 km (236 mi) drive from Swakopmund on good quality gravel roads.

Welcome to Sossusvlei Desert Lodge
The lodge lies within &Beyond Sossusvlei Private Desert Reserve, a vast 12,715-hectare (31,419-acre) expanse in the heart of the Namib — the world’s oldest living desert.
Set amidst an ocean of dunes, rocky outcrops and gravel plains, the utter tranquillity and extraordinary clarity of light makes this area one of Africa’s most compelling landscapes. The night skies are heavenly, with the concession bordering the International Dark Sky Reserve of the NamibRand Nature Reserve. A canvas of beauty that invites reconnection with yourself and nature.
Sustainability and uncompromised luxury go hand in hand at Sossusvlei Desert Lodge. Ten beautifully appointed stone and glass Suites, spread out along the curve of the escarpment, open onto ever-changing outlooks. Each spacious air conditioned suite offers a secluded, shaded veranda complete with private lap pool, a living room with a fireplace, a large retractable skylight above the bed, and an ensuite bathroom with a glass-encased rain shower offering 180º desert views. The two-bedroom Star Dune Suite is an ideal option for families or groups of friends.
The split-level guest area is an inspired masterpiece of glass, rock and steel. Large glass panels fold away to reveal unobstructed desert vistas. Inviting amenities include a central-island bar, comfortable sitting room, walk-in wine cellar, interactive kitchen and rim-flow swimming pool. Other unique features include a variety of shaded, private spaces; a sunrise-facing gym; and a sunset-view wellness centre with a treatment room, private spa bath and separate wet-room spa. The lodge’s Signature Shop also highlights some of Namibia’s finest handcrafted treasures.

BIG DUNE WALK EXPERIENCE
Walk across ancient sands and hike ‘Big Dune’s’ winding tailbone of a crest all the way which has been sculpted by prevailing winds. As you reach the top without another soul in sight, look out over Sossusvlei’s sensational views. Tuck into a delicious picnic breakfast to celebrate.
STARGAZING EXTRAVAGANZA
Sossusvlei Private Desert Reserve borders one of the world’s few official Dark Sky Reserves, boasting some of the clearest night skies on Earth. When available, guests are invited to join the visiting astronomer at the lodge’s observatory. Subject to availability of the observatory and visiting astronomer.
