Welcome to Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp
Sprawled along the Saparingo River on the edge of the Oloololo escarpment, where riverine forest meets the sweeping plains in the seasonal path of the awe-inspiring Great Migration, the camp provides an authentic dose of African wildlife, delivered with legendary Kenyan hospitality.
Set on a private concession, with abundant iconic wildlife and panoramic Masai Mara views, Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp dazzles with its contemporary safari feel.
With timeless interiors that are simple yet sophisticated and stylish, the Camp enhances guests’ sense of privacy and enjoyment. 12 Classic tents, 20 Superior tents and eight Superior View tents, are laid out in immaculate grounds, with leisurely groups of warthog feeding right outside the tent doors. Maasai-inspired interiors firmly entrench &Beyond Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp as the unrivalled luxury tented camp of its size in the greater Mara.
Massive windows in the spacious guest areas invite the Mara inside and incorporate split-level spaces where guests can relax and unwind. Pick and choose delicious ingredients from the organic garden and enjoy convivial conversations in the inviting interactive kitchen. Treat yourself to holistic healing in the massage tent, indulge in a rejuvenating treatment or browse the Safari Shop, offering the finest Kenyan handicrafts. The rim-flow swimming pool, literally on the edge of the Mara, boasts one of the world’s most extraordinary views.
LEAVING OUR WORLD A BETTER PLACE
Designed to limit impact, all hot water in the camp is heated through
a solar water system. By bottling our water on site we save over 56,000
plastic bottles annually, and with a strong focus on people development,
we invest in education and healthcare.
Why we love it
ICONIC WILDLIFE
The Masai Mara combines some of the richest Big Five viewing on the planet and is home to lion prides, leopard and elephant parades. In migration season, vast herds of wildebeest stretch as far as the eye can see, and with the diverse eco-systems comes a variety of bird life.
CULTURALLY RICH
This is the land of the Maasai, regal overlords and striking custodians of an ancient culture. Translated into spotted land of the Maasai, interact daily with our staff, many of whom are from local communities. Or visit a traditional village and witness the daily rituals of the Maasai.
PRIVATE CONCESSION
Situated on the western border of the game rich Masai Mara National Reserve, the camp is set on a private concession. In addition to the excellent year-round concentration of wildlife, access to the concession allows for bush walks, night drives and bush dining under a starry sky.
HEARTY DINING
Wholesome, organic menus incorporate and celebrate the seasonal bounty of the lodge’s thriving shamba (vegetable garden). The interactive kitchen brings a cheerful atmosphere to the lodge, allowing guests to see their mouth-watering meals being prepared from garden to table.
