After seven months of planning and production, the latest edition of the Bateleur magazine is hot-off-the-press. A food-themed issue, Beyond Food, is a wholesome 148-page homage to the &Beyond food experience on three continents, which in true &Beyond style, goes far beyond the food itself.
This edition is a celebration of the food nostalgia that is experienced through travel. It takes readers beyond the ingredients, beyond the plate and indeed beyond borders to those cherished travel—and food—memories that are permanently etched in the memory bank.
From safari, island and desert escapes, to immersive farm and city stays, each adventure bears its own unique flavours and sensory delights. And upon returning home from these far-fetched destinations, those same flavours will forever transport the mind back to each unforgettable travel moment (and meal) shared.
There was much creative debate around this issue’s cover, from traditional photography or illustration to cover art and everything in between. The end product took a lot of planning, shopping, patience … and food. Here’s the story behind the artwork.
