A memorable opportunity awaits as you enjoy a full-day of explorations in Santiago, on a series of adventures that are exclusive to &Beyond.
Founded in 1541, the Chilean capital is today a modern, sprawling, and vibrant metropolis. Flanked on one side by the Andes, and the Coastal range on the other, the city has a unique natural backdrop. Today, Santiago is a dynamic city where colonial mansions sit among soaring skyscrapers, folk art becomes fashion and Latin and European cultures intertwine.
The tour highlights the contrasts between the older, centrally located areas and the modern uptown stretch of Santiago. The excursion will be conducted in chronological order, allowing you the opportunity to understand the origins of the city, and the urban sprawl over the past 200 years, where Santiago morphed from town to city. Features include the Cerro Santa Lucía, where the city was founded in 1542, the Plaza de Armas, the Central Market, Estación Mapocho (a former railway station), and La Moneda, the Presidential Palace. The second half of the tour will take you to the residential areas of Providencia and Ñuñoa, and the cosmopolitan financial districts of Las Condes, before reaching La Dehesa.
