The Maldives is a wonderful destination to combine with the cultural and wildlife highlights of neighboring Sri Lanka or a Tiger Safari in India.
While the high season is between November and April, the Maldives is a year-round destination, with some great offers between April to September.
Currency
- USD is the only accepted currency in the Maldives.
- Most credit cards are accepted in Maldives.
- The only place you can change money, other than the airport, is your hotel.
Photography
Public computer access may not be available during your holiday. If you are shooting digital and plan to take a large number of photos, be sure to bring enough memory cards or your own computer equipment/image tank onto which you can download your pictures. Make sure your camera gear is properly protected from any potential rain or humidity. If you are using a point-and-shoot camera, store it in a heavy, zip-top plastic bag whenever not in use to protect it from the elements and to keep it in working order. Most hotels also have waterproof disposable camera’s to buy for underwater photography.
Passports and Visa requirements
- Guests visiting Maldives must be in possession of a passport that is valid for at least six months from the date of travel and should have two blank pages available in their passport.
- A 30 day visa is available on arrival. Guests will need to have the name of their resort, and be in possession of an onward air ticket to qualify for a visa.
Luggage allowance
Baggage weight on seaplanes is restricted to 20kg (40 lbs). Excess baggage may have to wait for available space on a later flight.

- Being a strict Islamic country, no alcohol is allowed to be carried into the country. You can only consume alcohol in your hotel.
