Sacha is the largest tourism-sector employer in Ecuador’s Amazon region and is cloaked within 5000-acres of private ecological reserve. It is a refuge for nature and man alike, and aims to sustain a healthy balance between economic development, conservation and respect for local cultures. The journey to Sacha begins with a two-hour motorized canoe ride through the Napo river into the depths of the jungle, before a trek along a raised wooden walkway through the dense forest to Lake Pilchicocha, which is crossed aboard traditional dugout canoes with tropical birds flying overhead.
Luxury thatch-roof cabanas blend into the lush surroundings on the other side of the lake, boasting deluxe linens, modern bathrooms and designer sundries. The lodge restaurant offers three international buffet meals a day, paired with cocktails that can be enjoyed on the scenic raised lookout above the main bar. The lodge offers a true jungle adventure in luxurious comfort, amidst the pristine rainforests of Ecuador.
What we love about Sacha Lodge
- The exclusive 940-foot long canopy walk through the rustling forest tree tops at 94 feet above the forest floor.
- The live exhibition area on butterfly farm, located within walking distance of the lodge.
- An evening barbeque right on the edge of the lake. The smoky aroma of native ingredients coupled with the forest essence proves both intoxicating and soothing.
