The spirit of Centro de Ocio Lodge
Centro de Ocio Lodge lies on lush and fertile land, surrounded by plump apple trees. Once a Chilote house, the lodge was refurbished to maintain the charm of the old world but, at the same time, to embrace a contemporary outlook and practice for efficient sustainable tourism. The hotel is split along the property, each section in perfect union with its surroundings. There are rooms in the Ala del Viento that are connected to the main property by a bridge overlooking the fjord Castro, deluxe suites named after the elements and hidden on hills amongst native vegetation and centro rooms with private hydro-massage tubs, exquisitely integrating modern luxury with an earthy appeal. A Chiloe burner on the property prepares local dishes that are smoked and grilled to perfection. Traditionally, Chiloe families would gather around the hearth to eat, laugh and tell stories that would later become local folklore. The spa practices Tui Na, an ancient Chinese medicine that restores balance to the body, revitalises the mind and creates a deep awareness of nature.
What we love about Centro de Ocio Lodge
- The respect given to the local community and land with obvious strides to preserve and sustain. Guests are actively encouraged to socialize with the people of the island and to experience the ‘real Chiloe’.
- The centro, which acts as the main reception and houses the kitchen, dining area and living room where guests can relax, unwind and foster new relationships.
- Sculptures around the lodge represent Chiloe’s culture and symbolism. The Don Ocio depicts a man looking deep into a lake, connecting to the earth in harmony and wisdom.
