My camera, binoculars, Autan mozzie repellent, Lip Balm for those cold winter mornings on the open vehicles and Mnemba Island kikoi and sunglasses.
Favourite destinations
Tanzania and &Beyond Mnemba Island which were my home for 11 years as I managed Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, Ngorongoro Crater, Grumeti and Mnemba Island twice. The Great Migration in Tanzania, the people who are warm and welcoming, their rich culture that has remained strong and the vast open plains of the mighty Serengeti. Another highlight is &Beyond Mnemba Island which is the ultimate in barefoot paradise The whitest coral sand, the warmth of the azure sea, the peacefulness, the absolute privacy, the constant spoiling, the whale sharks, the nesting turtles and the Adder’s duikers, which I helped to introduce. Mozambique is very beautiful with the gentle seas, wonderful people who take care of you and the food. Not to mention the range of exciting activities such as Pansy Island, Paradise Island, picnics, snorkelling and diving. Uganda is a bucket list experience for the gorillas, the excitement, the adrenalin of the climb and the overwhelming privilege of being able to sit quietly in their presence and observe. And ofcourse the Sabi Sands where my journey began…the leopard viewing is unlike anywhere else in Africa.
