I made a quick work escape to &Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge to oversee a group stay. In short, Sossusvlei was everything I imagined it would be and more. Being a born and bred Namibian having the advantage of visiting the dunes several times during my youth, Sossusvlei really had to pull all the stops out to impress me… and they did just that!
I find the lodge quite refreshing in the scorching deserts heat. It’s fairly modern and not to overly dressed, just perfect. The rooms are very spacious with huge inside and outside showers. At first glance, one might think there is not a lot to do but four nights could easily pass and there would still be so many things well worth doing.
A balloon safari is a must and I would also recommend opening your curtains at night to see the wonderful desert landscape come to life in the moon’s gaze. With no ‘light’ pollution the stars are brighter than anywhere else and simply breathtaking.
