Safari game drive in Bandhavgarh National Park

Set off in search of the king of the jungle

The essence of the safari game drive

A glimpse of this beautiful animal in its element is a truly rewarding sight. Marvel at the copper coat of the Indian tiger as it seeks refuge from the harsh sun and cools off in the nearby rivers. Listen carefully to the quintessential sounds of the Indian jungle as the elegant spotted chital deer alerts its kin to the presence of any predator. The golden brown, wide eyed deer grazes the fields with delicate steps. Enter the colony of the coughing langur, who gutturally declares his territory and troupe. The enigmatic jungle, with its many acoustics, is sure to enthral and delight.

Taking refuge in green lush hilly terrain, the diverse landscape allows the tigers to roam over gorgeous grassland meadows ideal for stunning sightings. This sublime park, that supports one of the highest densities of tigers in India, is now world famous. A glimpse of these exquisite creatures is an utterly captivating, and quite breathtaking moment.  These magnificent felines are not the only animals on display, and creating this diverse ecosystem is an abundance of mammals. These include gaur (Indian Bison), chital (spotted deer), Sambar deer, dhole, nilgai, wild boar, chinkara, sloth bear, rhesus macaque, black faced langur, jungle cat, hyena, porcupine, jackal, fox and wild dog. There are elusive leopards, but due to the tiger presence, they keep to the fringes of the park.

Cast your eye to the skies and see magnificent kaleidoscopic flutterings of over 350 bird species. Glimpse the swooping   Plum-headed Parakeet with a lime green body and a blue long tail, diving distinctive black and white Oriental Magpie Robins and Crested Hawk Eagles keeping a sharp lookout in between a canopy of lush foliage. Prolific are the Coppersmith Barbet, Indian Grey Hornbill, Indian Roller, Eurasian Collared Dove, Yellow-footed Pigeon, Sapphire Flycatcher, Brown Fish Owl, Golden Oriole and Painted Francolin to name just a few.
