Activities at Lake Manyara Tree Lodge
&Beyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is the only permanent lodge set in the remote southern region of the reserve, far from the park’s entrance gate. This means that game drives explore areas of the park that cannot be reached by day visitors and your game viewing is unlikely to be disturbed by vehicles from other lodges. Each morning and afternoon you will set off in the company of your guide and tracker team in an open 4x4 safari vehicle with a canvas canopy as protection from the sun. Your guide will help you explore the many diverse habitats of the park, stopping on the lake shore to admire the different bird species and look for pink flamingo. You will traverse a mosaic of acacia woodlands, grassy floodplains and tall forest in search of wildlife, including Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions and family herds of elephant.

EXPLORING LAKE MANYARA BY BICYCLE
Guests visiting &Beyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge can enjoy a memorable scenic and cultural mountain biking excursion through the nearby Mayoka community, hosted throughout by an expert &Beyond guide. After a quick game drive to Mayoka, located just 4 km (2.5 miles) south of the lodge, you will collect your bicycle and embark a sensational journey. Begin your adventure by travelling through this bustling village and interacting with its friendly people. During your adventure, you might have the opportunity to encounter the nomadic Mang’ati tribe (also known as the Datooga tribe), who are adorned with traditional animal skin cloaks, skirts and colourful beads.
Once you have made your way through the village, you will continue along a picturesque route, which lends itself to exceptional photographic opportunities. The course eventually snakes its way towards the unforgettable surrounds of Lake Manyara, where you can admire the flocks of flamingos as well as other beautiful bird species that congregate along its shoreline. Nothing quite describes the extraordinary sight of the pink cloud that erupts over the lake as hundreds of magnificent flamingos take off in unison. All proceeds from this tour go directly to the Mayoka community.
Alternatively, should you not be inclined to hop onto a bicycle, there is a guided walk along the same route.
