Whether it’s participating in the reintroduction of an endangered species like the black rhino, providing a market for local businesses to encourage community enterprise development, or eliminating plastic from our lodge operations, we consciously and continually look for ways to leave a positive legacy through all of our actions.
Founding vision
Stepping back over three decades to the founding days of &Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve, our vision was that a successfull luxury ecotourism company could draw wealth and investment into wild and irreplaceable areas, and use that business success to catalyse the conservation of those landscapes and seascapes for the benefit of land, wildlife and the surrounding rural communities.
Tried and tested
Our commercially sustainable impact model has evolved to support our commitment to leave our world a better place through the continued delivery of extraordinary guest exeperiences.Today, we are directly conserving our footprint of 1 million acres, and have set our Vision 2030 intention to collectively influence a further 40 million acres; in essence to underwrite the long-term conservation of the Earth’s wild places in which we operate through best business and non-profit practices.
Collective intent
This has never been, and never will be, a solo journey. Together with Wild Impact (formerly Africa Foundation), our non-profit community and conservation development partner, we will continue to forge authentic and equitable relationships with partner communities, collaborate with like-minded organisations, and work with governments, regional authorities and stakeholders.
The ultimate outcome of our collective journey will be a future that finds these wild spaces resilient, vibrant and health, and thriving communities that actively advocate for their conservation and protection for generations to come.
Our core conservation principles
Driven through extraordinary guest experiences
- Care of Land embraces our efficiency strategy, which aims to minimise our physical footprint and the impact that our operations have on land and ocean environments.
- Care of Wildlife is defined in our conservation strategy, which includes the preservation of endangered species, both land and marine.
- Care of People has specific relevance to collaborative education, healthcare and enterprise development projects within our partner communities.
