Welcome to Lake Manyara Tree Lodge
Lake Manyara National Park offers a true wilderness experience in diverse habitats, from its Rift Valley soda lake to dense woodlands and steep mountainsides. Cradled in the boughs of an ancient mahogany forest, Lake Manyara Tree Lodge blends into the natural beauty of its breathtaking surroundings.
Most people think that the famous tree-climbing lions here have developed their climbing habit to get away from annoying insects. At &Beyond, we have our own theory – they’re jealous of our magnificent treehouse suites.
Designed to exert minimal impact on the environment, the lodge offers an exclusive interpretive safari in a more remote area of the National Park. Gentle Tanzanian hospitality is exuded from the team, who have a passion for delighting guests, whether you are on honeymoon, or a family safari.
Nine stilted treehouse suites, crafted from local timber and makuti palm fronds, boast a sophisticated blend of intimacy and romance, offering privacy and exclusivity in the cool, leafy surroundings, which often has elephant visitors passing through.
Overlooking a forest boma, or outdoor dining area, lined with traditional dugout canoes, guest areas are characterised by soaring spaces that house local artworks and tactile fabrics. An interactive kitchen allows guests to observe, or help with, the preparation of delicious dishes that are enjoyed in the theatrical boma or on the open dining decks. Treat yourself to a massage in the massage sala, surrounded by a lush forest or relax at the pool in the heat of the afternoon.

Why we love it
DIVERSITY OF HABITAT
This unique park, flanked by the dramatic Rift Valley and soda lake has an incredible diversity of habitats. The nine rivers, five of which are permanent, support a variety of wildlife and birdlife and extraordinary trees including baobabs.
SUNRISES & SUNSETS
The lake creates a spectacular translucence, making sunrises and sunsets truly spectacular. The only lodge in the park, experience your own private golden glow of sunset or watch the flamingos with every shade of pink.
TREE CLIMBING LIONS & MORE
The Park is famous for its unusual tree-climbing lions and the vast elephant families it was established to protect. The shores of the lake, encrusted with seasonal pink flamingo, attract more than 400 species of waterfowl and migrant birds.
SLEEP IN A TREE HOUSE
Sophisticated treehouse suites are graced by the sounds of the forest. Each exclusive treehouse offers guests a private eye into the lush surroundings of the lodge. Immersed in rich foliage, slumber with the night sounds enveloping you.
