Leave from your lodge in an open 4×4 safari safari in the company of your naturalist and stop at the park gate to welcome a park ranger on board. Immerse yourself in the picturesque scenery of Bandhavgarh as you search for the magnificent tiger. A glimpse of this beautiful animal in its element is a truly rewarding sight. Marvel at the tiger’s copper coat as it seeks refuge from the harsh sun and cools off in the nearby rivers. Listen carefully to sounds of the Indian jungle as the elegant spotted chital deer alerts its kin to the presence of any predator and watch as the wide eyed deer enters a clearing with delicate steps. Marvel at the antics of a colony of langur monkeys and watch out for a selection of other exotic wildlife. The stealthy leopard, four-horned chousingha antelope, wild boar, sloth bear and jungle cat are only some of the animals that inhabit this beautiful nature reserve. The park is also home to more than 250 colourful bird species.

Cradled between the picturesque Vindhya and Satpura mountain ranges, Bandhavgarh boasts a breathtaking mixture of dense green valleys and rocky hills. Mixed deciduous forests and woodlands are interspersed with flat grasslands and serene waterholes. A network of spring-fed streams provides a water source for the park’s wildlife.

Rising abruptly from the plains, the highest hill in the park is topped by the ruins of the ancient Bandhavgarh Fort. Gazing majestically over captivating views of the entire reserve from its perch atop a steep cliff, the fort is accessible by an old pilgrim path. Halfway up the hill, a massive reclining statue of Lord Vishnu, god of wealth and well-being, lies in the shade of dense evergreen trees, with an underground spring bubbling to life at the statue’s feet. Vultures, blue rock thrushes and crag martins nest among the crumbling ramparts of the old fort.
