Just three months ago, our beloved &Beyond Matetsi River Lodge completed its grand, highly anticipated makeover and officially re-opened its glamourous doors to guests. The feedback has been outstanding and we are thrilled that Matetsi has once again resumed its rightful place within the &Beyond family.

The luxurious lodge is a harmonious balance of chic, modern design infused with old school rustic charm. The architecture complements and blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape and the pristine, natural beauty of the Zambezi River – which is (literally) right on your doorstep – remains the focal point throughout.

Huge glass windows allow natural light to shine into the elegant, spacious suites that overlook the mighty Zambezi. Each suite also boasts a generous rim-flow plunge pool with plush, comfortable loungers where idle afternoons can be spent swimming, reading and relaxing.
You won’t believe how big and luxurious the bathtubs are … or, should you prefer, there are romantic al fresco showers, also boasting commanding views of the Zambezi. Imagine listening to the haunting cry of the fish eagle and the entertaining snorting and cavorting of nearby hippos while you shower in the open air.
The local Zimbabwean hospitality is warm and genuine, the world-class meals are wholesome and hearty, the impressive wine cellar is fully-stocked with the finest wines, and be sure to try the lodge’s signature frozen mojito (at sunset of course, and overlooking the breathtaking Zambezi).

Here is what our guests have to say

“I have visited numerous five-star lodges, but my stay at &Beyond Matetsi way surpassed anything I have experienced before. The setting on the rolling banks of the Zambezi River surrounded by 50 000 ha of game viewing paradise set the scene for an unforgettable experience. The superb architecture of the buildings absorbs them into the environment, yet offers luxury like I have never seen before. The attention to detail in the suites is beyond words, offering everything that one’s heart could desire – from the enormous round bath, indoor and outdoor showers, to the private splash pool and loungers, right down to the tiniest detail in the range and packaging of their cosmetic products. The hospitality offered by the delightful staff was in true Zimbabwean form. The warmth and sincerity of this wonderful nation goes hand in hand with superb training and remarkable service levels. Ranger Kheto is an exceptional asset to the team, with knowledge of the bush and its creatures great and small that never ceased to amaze me. Kheto and his tracker, Noah, went more than the extra mile to find the cats I so wanted to see and delighted me with stories of their experiences in the wild, making drives with them so unique and personal. The sundowner cruise offered a leisurely view of the reserve and game viewing from a different angle. The sunset over the vast expanse of water was nothing short of magical. There was an endless flow of top class cuisine experienced throughout the stay in various different settings, which offered one surprise after another. The wine cellar is out of this world, with personal touches by the owner and an array of wines to delight the connoisseur. Thank you to the owners and the &Beyond team for an unforgettable experience – &Beyond Matetsi is world-class and, I have no doubt, will become one of the most sought after venues in Africa.”
