Built on the grounds of a former cacao and rubber plantation, the Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción offers guests a true Amazon jungle adventure, surrounded by the sights and sounds of giant river otters, blue and yellow macaws, titi monkeys, agoutis, two-toed sloth, peccaries, hoatzins and black caimans. The lodge consists of a thatched main building with high ceilings and furniture crafted from locally salvaged wood, where the guest areas and six spacious ensuite rooms are located. There are also 19 private cabanas scattered throughout the tropical gardens, each raised on stilts to provide beautiful views of the forest canopy. Guests can also look forward to regionally inspired meals, prepared with organic and local farm products, at the lodge’s dining area and bar, or they can relax in the scenic lounge and soak in the stunning scenery.
The Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción was designed to facilitate learning of the Amazon’s complex ecosystems, and each of the varied, exciting excursions offered is an opportunity to learn. Led by a bilingual guide, the adventures include walking the trails that wind across the lodge property, floating down the Madre de Dios River at dusk to learn about the river and the star constellations, or exploring the rain forest after dark to seek out fascinating nocturnal animals.
