The spirit of Warwick Garden
Known as ‘Little England’, this refined highland community has a spot of a vaguely British-country-village feel to it. Complete with colonial-era bungalows, Tudor-style hotels, well-tended hedgerows and colourful picturesque gardens. Once the place for the hard-working and hard-drinking English and Scottish pioneers of Sri Lanka’s tea industry today is a gorgeous area to rest and relax. Exquisite vast lush countryside blanketed with tea plantations, and bright fresh vegetable plots are a beautiful sight. Craggy hills stand like ancient fortresses and make for a lovely sight. Treat yourself to a night in one of Nuwara Eliya’s colonial hotels, play a round of golf or a few frames of billiards, and soak up the town’s unique bygone heritage.
Situated in acres of tea and jungle, and approached via a very narrow and rough tea estate road, Warwick Gardens is a tastefully converted planter’s home originally built in the 1880’s. Set amidst the picturesque landscape of the hill country, an old colonial bungalow has been restored to more than its former glory to provide you with every modern comfort you desire, while retaining its charming old world ambience. Five rooms are all beautifully decorated and finished to a high standard, and retain many original features and fittings including working fireplaces, and furnished with period pieces. The en-suites have rain showers and those attached to the suites also have a free-standing roll-top bath. Elegantly furnished and equipped with every amenity to ensure your ultimate comfort; the three deluxe rooms Premier, Glenoch and Oakleigh, the Master Bedroom Warwick, and the exclusively private White Room, combine the charm of a bygone era with the luxuries of modern living. Jetwing Warwick Gardens offers guests a host of dining experiences from breakfast in bed to alfresco lunches and romantic barbeque dinners. Culinary delights prepared with fresh ingredients from our own garden make each meal a one of a kind experience. It is an ideal spot to laze on the veranda, enjoy a delicious meal made with fresh vegetables from the garden, explore the local area on foot, or take a trip to one of the local villages to experience Tamil life. The small yet elegant sitting room boasts a baby grand piano and a sparkling chandelier lights the communal table in the dining room. Your dining preferences can be discussed with the house manager and the set meals are simple but freshly prepared. For those who love the outdoors, there are surrounding estates to explore, an orchard and farm to visit or a tea estate to tour.
