The splitting of the mega herd means that there is now plenty of action on both sides of the Serengeti/Mara ecosystem and guests at SIX of our properties in Tanzania and Kenya are currently witnessing the unforgettable Great Migration in all its bucket-list glory.
This update will focus on the Western Corridor, where enormous herds are now grazing and new groups of grunting gnus continue to join them daily. They are dominating the Maji Mbele plains just northeast of Masira Hill and the daunting, yet highly anticipated Grumeti River crossings have only just begun.
Guests visiting the luxurious &Beyond Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp, as well as our two semi-permanent &Beyond Serengeti Under Canvas Camps, are in the midst of all the action and are witnessing the exciting crossings. This of course has lured hungry, opportunistic predators, both in and out of the water.
With wildebeest gathered right in front of &Beyond Grumeti, guests are now enjoying leisurely poolside lunches directly overlooking the Kanyanja hippo pool with its resident pod of highly entertaining hippo, and now, the roaming herds of the Great Migration too.
Truly unforgettable.
