Couldn’t resist sharing this heart-warming memory from &Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve. Robin Cheesman (then Phinda Mountain Lodge Head Ranger) sat with his guests and watched quietly as a herd of 70 elephant slowly made their way across the Inkwazi floodplain. They ventured down to Barbel Beach for a drink and a bit of playtime in the water, when a small calf suddenly fell in. Elephants are renowned for having a strong family bond and it was both fascinating and heart-warming to see how they all pulled together to safely rescue the little one from drowning.
