It has been just over a month since our first lodge in South America officially opened its doors and we couldn’t be more proud to showcase the incredible Chilean culture, hospitality, landscapes, cuisine and extraordinary beauty with our guests.
In true &Beyond spirit, our very first guests to &Beyond Vira Vira were warmly welcomed, South American style, on top of a snow-capped volcano no less. As the family enjoyed an energetic and unbelievably scenic hike up Villarrica, one of Chile’s most active volcanoes, &Beyond guides Eddie and Pato effortlessly carried over 20 kg of equipment in order to create a private lunch they would never forget.
Reminiscent of our iconic sandcastle dinners on the shores of &Beyond Mnemba Island, a makeshift table and chairs made entirely of snow (instead of beach sand) gave the guests a quiet spot to rest their legs and take in the magnificent, snowy view of Chile’s Lake District below.
Of course, any &Beyond guest can attest to the fact that we love to feed our guests just as much as we like to spoil and surprise them, so a hearty and wholesome farmhouse lunch was prepared on the spot. Piping hot espressos were poured and a moreish selection of flavourful cured meats, organic vegetables, freshly-baked bread and organic preserves was served alongside an abundant platter of fresh homemade parmesan, gruyère and manchego from the lodge’s cheese factory.
Upon their return back to the lodge after an adventure-filled day outdoors, an aromatic wild herb bubble bath awaited the guests in their suite to soothe tired muscles and re-energise the spirit for an indulgent evening of fresh food, fine wine and heart-warming stories shared around the table.
