Enjoy a captivating day out watching a Ladakhi polo match in the foothills of the Himalaya. This ancient sport was introduced to Ladakh in the 17th century, and is played in the summer months of June, July and August. Fast and exciting the game is accompanied by jovial songs and fervent music from local artists and the surna and daman, traditional Ladakhi musical instruments. Two teams, comprised of six players each, battle it out on the field with immense skill and incredibly precise hand-eye coordination as they gallop at full speed for the glory of hitting the winning goal.
