Why travel to Bhutan?

Bhutan is the last remaining great Himalaya Kingdom. Bhutan boasts magnificent mountain scenery, incredible architecture and a colourful cultural heritage.

Bhutan is a diverse, natural Shangri-La, the country offers a staggering variety of landscapes, as well as an incredible array of fauna and flora. Set within one of the world’s most breathtaking mountain chains, it is famed for its high mountain peaks and range of trekking opportunities.

Mysterious and shrouded in myth, Bhutan is filled with tangible examples of its extraordinary culture, from the striking architecture of its mountain forts and monasteries to the images of Buddhist religious figures painted or carved onto the craggy cliffs.

Frayed prayer flags flutter in spectacular mountain passes and prayer wheels turn slowly with the current of clear mountain streams. Grand examples of traditional design and architecture, Bhutan’s famous monasteries and temples, such as the Tiger’s Nest cling to sheer cliff tops or majestically stand guard in its picturesque towns.

Blessed with an extraordinary range of natural habitats, from subtropical valleys to alpine peaks, Bhutan is also home to some exceptional wildlife including Asian Elephant, Bengal Tiger, Red Panda, Himalayan Black Bear, Black Necked Cranes, Himalayan Musk Deer, Asiatic Black Bear, Sloth Bear, Leopards and the Gray Wolf.
