Our Perfect East Africa Safari – losing our Hearts to &Beyond and Africa!

Dear Tonya,

I trust this note finds you well. It has taken me a week to get my bearings together to try and re-enter my world which has been most difficult. I also hope that you will share this note with many of your colleagues. You planned us the perfect trip. From when we started so long ago until we left Africa, it was flawless. Every attention to detail was thought about by you and incorporated into our itinerary. All of your time and effort paid off enormously. Rich and I fell in love with Africa. While we have travelled to many places around the world, the people we encountered in the three countries, were the warmest, caring and accommodating. They were smart, humorous and lovely. We learned so very much from everyone we met. Truth is, we have left our hearts somewhere on the Serengeti Plains and the Masai Mara. The overwhelming vastness and the sheer magnificence during our game drives was totally unexplainable to anyone. To convene with nature and have the many varied experiences that we did, words cannot describe, Seeing the male lion under a tree with a kill the first evening out at Sabora, to the herd of 250 elephants, to cheetahs, and the family of zebras and a giraffe that hung out in our camp was breathtaking. And of course, the final evening in the Serengeti where we saw the leopard. The experience of trekking to see our family of gorillas cannot be explained to anyone. It was a long and hard trek but to see 17 out of the 19 in that family, including two silverbacks was amazing. And to see the migration, the crossing of 100,000 wildebeests and zebras over the Mara river was an overwhelming sight. We loved every second we were there. Our love of nature and seeing the animals and birds in their true environment is something we will never forget. I want you to please thank everyone at the lodges and the Uganda Safari Company for a stupendous job and sheer attention to detail. Our surprise anniversary singing and cake at both the Crater and Bateleur left us in tears. The exquisite attention to detail and service at each lodge and camp is unparalleled to any place we have visited. When we had to leave Bateleur, we just wept….the thought of leaving was unbearable. I am sure I am forgetting many things, but I hope this gives you and your colleagues a sense of our time there. Rich and I cannot thank you enough for planning the perfect trip for us. We have fallen in love with Africa, it’s people and plan to return as soon as possible. And I can assure you that we will be telling everyone we know about this trip and to call Tonya to put it together. With warm regards, Hope and Rich
