Wildebeest Migration – making a detour to &Beyond Kleins Camp – 24th August 2011
The Migration Arrives at &Beyond Klein’s Camp 24 August 2011 ~ Serengeti National Park, Tanzania Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya

Thanks to some welcome rain in mid-August, a mass of wildebeest has now made a detour to the east and has settled onto the &Beyond Klein’s Camp wilderness concession. This splinter group of the Great Migration is estimated at an impressive 500 000 animals, which is substantially larger than the herds that visited Klein’s Camp last year. Everywhere you look there are herds of wildebeest, dotted with eland, buffalo and zebra. It’s amazing! Our rangers and guests have witnessed plenty of action with the resident pride of 23 lions, a male leopard was seen with a wildebeest kill up a tree, and four lionesses and their ten cubs were seen on another kill. With more rain expected, we estimate the herds will stick around for a couple of weeks at least.
