Migration Update – Grazing on the Southern Plains
05 January 2010 ~ Serengeti National Park, Tanzania & Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya
Over the festive season, more than one million wildebeest arrived safely at the Ndutu region of the southern Serengeti. Lake Ndutu is full, the drought now a distant memory. With intermittent heavy rains and delightful thunder and lightning, the southern plains are a thrilling place to be, with exciting wildlife sightings and awe-inspiring views. Despite the damp ground, the predators are taking full advantage, stalking, chasing and preying on the weaker herbivores. &Beyond Serengeti Under Canvas guides Mohamed Omari and Ivan Jacob have treated their guests to some rare, unforgettable sightings.
“We woke up each morning to the pleasant sound of wildlife around us, with the sun rising and a magnificent view of the Serengeti. This, after having seen and heard the wildebeest grazing around our tent all night, was a once in a lifetime experience.” ~ &Beyond Serengeti Under Canvas Guest Book
