Founded in 1992, the &Beyond Foundation, the company’s social development partner, has raised and committed over USD 6 million to community development projects in five African countries, built classrooms and pre-schools, and trained teachers and pupils in environmental awareness. The &Beyond Foundation has awarded university scholarships, built clinics and led HIV/AIDS initiatives, implemented water programmes and created numerous small business opportunities.

The company's dynamic conservation strategy has made a significant contribution, and recent wildlife victories include a leopard monitoring programme at Phinda Private Game Reserve, a black rhino range expansion project, and the protection and monitoring of green turtles on Mnemba Island.

In terms of land protection and management, the Greater St Lucia region of South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province has been expanded, as has the South African National Parks network, areas of Zimbabwe previously used for trophy hunting are now protected, and sheep farming areas in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province have been restored to wildlife communities.

By integrating international travellers and rural people to their mutual benefit, &Beyond has not only demonstrated that wildlife can be conserved on a sustainable basis, but they have also shown their deep love for natural landscapes and how by ‘doing good’ one can ‘do well’.
